3) Dr. Maria Reif

Maria Reif studied Molecular Biotechnology and Molecular Modeling at the Technische Universität München, Germany, and at Cardiff University, UK. In 2010, she obtained her PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland, in the group of Prof. Philippe Hünenberger on the topic of investigating single ion solvation thermodynamics via classical atomistic molecular dynamics simulation. She was awarded the ETH silver medal for the PhD thesis. From 2010 to 2014, she did postdoctoral research in the group of Prof. Chris Oostenbrink at the Universität für Bodenkultur Wien, Austria. In 2011, she received a Lise-Meitner fellowship to work on free energy calculations involving net charge changes in (bio)molecular simulations and to do force-field development for oligoatomic ions in solution. Currently, she is working as a senior postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Zacharias at the Technische Universität München. Her research is concerned with free-energy and entropy calculations and solvation studies in (bio)molecular systems. She has experience with teaching courses in theoretical physics and molecular simulation.
